I worked as an intern at Espace Déco , a flooring retail company that sold products like hardwood, rugs and carpets. The company also had another in St pierre , headquarted in Saint-Denis. Espace Déco was a Simplified Joint Stocks Company SAS created on january 1 , 1976. It had 19 employees and achieved a turnover or 5 million in 2021. During my internship, I always arrived at 9 a.m and I didn’t work on mondays. My intership took place from tuesday to saturday, a total of 35 hours per week. The duration of my intership was one month, 4 weeks, and I worked 7 hours a day with a 2 hour lunch break from 12 p.m. to 14 p.m.
My internship took place within the store because it was part of my BTS in negotiation and digitalization of customer relations.
My rôle was to manage customer relations , and of course , customers came to the store and not to the warehouse or elsewhere.
The store was a large place and always clean and quiet. However, it could sometimes get a little messy when New products arrived and needed to be stocked in the store, resulting in torn boxes, papers and pallets and me having to clean up so it was clean.
The company had a coffee machine for everyone , even the interns. They also put candy at the entrance for customers and also served them coffee if they wanted it. The salespeople wore t-shirt called decorative space all time, it was a condition for them. And the interns also had to wear them , so I wore mine all the time.
My tasks during the internship were to greet customers, help salespeople when they needed it , answer the phone and check if the store was clean. People in the company were nice to me and trusted me.
At Espace Décor , they consider themselves a family , they get along well and even know each other in their privates lives. I had worked with my tutor , but I also helped other salespeople when they needed help. At first I was a little shy , but after 2 weeks I felt more comfortable, calm and confident because they treated the interns with respect.
